How to Play

Game Rules

You are playing a game that is something like a parallel version of Josh Wardle's game “Wordle”. You get some words to start with, colored as per the Wordle standard... but here, your task is to enter ALL of the matching words.

Bonus Words

Some valid words come from an extended word list. These are bonus words.

Bonus words are optional — you win by finding all the target words.
Bonus words are marked with a star in your results.
In normal mode, bonus words still provide letter clues for future guesses.

Normal Mode

In normal mode, the words you've already entered are formatted to give you some hints about the remaining answers.

All of the remaining answers contain S in the first position.
At least one of the remaining answers contains Q, but not in the second position.
All of the remaining answers contain U, at least one of them in the third position and at least one of them elsewhere.
You get the idea!

When you're in hard mode, you'll see a uniform color for your previous answers.

Hard Mode

In hard mode, you won't receive additional hints from your previous guesses.

All your entered words will appear in uniform colors, making the puzzle more challenging.

This is more like the situation you'd find yourself in if you were actually playing Wordle.

About the Game

The basic gameplay and idea for this game come directly from Wordall, which is itself inspired by ideas in Josh Wardle's game Wordle.

Our differences from Wordall are deliberate. Instead of penalizing words that don't appear in the dictionary, W2YM only penalizes words that don't meet the criteria of the board. We have an extensive list of less-popular words, so if you get one of those then you get credit for a bonus word.

We also have a hard mode, which means that you don't get the super-useful clues arising from the (non-bonus) words you've already played. This is a lot harder, and more closely matches what you need to do when you're playing Wordle itself.

In addition to the daily game, W2YM also gives you infinite random games. And somewhere in the middle, we also have a new decaleptical game every ten minutes.
